      <link>http://castroller.com/podcasts/TheGamesDay/1490711-Episode 40 - Its a me, Mario Pt 1</link>
<itunes:summary>Mario- it could be argued that he is the most recognized video game character ever. He's also likely responsible for saving video games from obscurity in the 1980's after Atari started to tank and there didn't seem to be much else coming up to take its place. But along came Nintendo with it's fabled Famicom (released in North America as the Nintendo Entertainment System) and a whole new world opened up. I remember the first time I played Super Mario Bros. on the NES- it was magical. I couldn't stop playing. I loved video games before this, but after? I was a changed person. Mario has seen a lot of action in his near 30 years of existence. On this week's show, we'll be talking about Mario and all of the spin-offs he's been involved in. What about you? Are you pro-Mario? Anti-Mario? Mario-neutral? Tell us about some of your favourite and not-so-favourite Mario moments! Thanks for watching on Vimeo and iTunes (and if you're watching on iTunes, don't forget to rate the show). As always, send feedback to fans (at) gamesdaypodcast (dot) com.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Graphics- can't live with 'em, can't live.... wait a minute- that doesn't work. Ummmm.... aw, heck- let's just cut to the chase, shall we? Graphics have come a long way since the infancy of video games. From two white bars bouncing a white dot across a black screen, to crudely-assembled monochromatic icons, to full cinematic sequences that are virtually indistinguishable from live action, graphics have developed in leaps and bounds over the last 30-odd years. The current generation of hardware is capable of producing some mind-blowing spectacles. This week on the show, we'll be talking about graphics in general- games with great graphics, games with disappointing graphics, games that pushed the boundaries of what a particular gaming system is capable of. Obviously we've got our own thoughts on this, but tell us- what are some of your favourite examples of graphics- good, bad, or ugly? Thanks for watching on Vimeo and iTunes (and if you're watching on iTunes, don't forget to rate the show). In this awesome episode, Matt, Mathew, and Ian sit down across from a roaring fire and regale the audience with Xmas tales of wonder and woe. Matt talks about his family's holiday traditions and brings an amazing prop to the set while Mathew spins a tale of family travels and Billy and Jimmy Lee. Ian reminds us of the hardship of Xmas with a cautionary tale of good intentions gone horribly wrong. We also break down our Christmas wish lists, Matt finds out who Jessica Tandy is, and we announce new prizes in our awesome holiday contest! NOTE: this episode wasn't live because the network card in Ian's PC cacked out on us, altho we did shoot at regular time.
